Honduras School Project | Yogi Tea

Earlier this summer, we shared news about our most recent work with the Village of Santa Teresa in Honduras, a grower community that supplies much of the Cardamom used in our teas. After successfully constructing a bridge in Santa Teresa last year, we are excited this year to work with Pure Ground Ingredients (PGI), the Jerezano family, and the Santa Teresa community to rebuild and expand their local school complex.

Honduras School Project Excavation | Yogi Tea
Excavation work begins at the site of the new school complex

Construction is already underway on the largest building of the new school complex. Working entirely by hand, the villagers recently completed the building’s foundation walls and are now constructing columns to support the roof, which will help keep the construction site dry during the rainy season. Once complete, this building will house three new classrooms and will provide space for 100 additional students.

It is our hope that by providing more children with the opportunity to attend school and receive an education, the Village of Santa Teresa will benefit from the school expansion project for generations to come.
